Permit

The Chemical Weapons (Convention) Ordinance (Cap. 578) empowers the Director-General of Trade and Industry ("the Director") to operated a Permit System with a view to implementing the requirements under the Ordinance. Some major provisions of the Ordinance related to the permit system are highlighted below. Please click to read the exact wordings of the provisions in the Ordinance :

Section 8 specifies when a permit is required. It stipulates that operator of a facility requires a permit to operate the facility during a particular year if the facility produced, acquired, retained, processed, consumed, used or transferred scheduled chemicals exceeding the specified limit.

Section 9 provides that an application for a permit needs to be made in the specified form and accompanied by a fee to the Director.

Section 10 provides that the Director may grant a permit subject to conditions or may refuse to grant a permit.
