Operators whose chemical facilities are likely to be involved in activities which trigger the permit requirement should apply for a permit from the Director-General of Trade and Industry ("the Director") to operate their facilities. Applicants should complete the Permit Application (Form P-1) (pdf format) and forward it to the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) Section, Strategic Trade Controls Branch of Trade and Industry Department, Room 516B, 700 Nathan Road, Kowloon. The application form may be obtained from Trade and Industry Department or may be downloaded from this website. If the applicant's chemical facility is likely to be involved in the production of Schedule 1 chemicals (pdf format), the applicant is also required to provide the technical details of the facility concerned. Such technical details should be set out in Form S1 . A separate permit is required for each facility. Applicants should ensure that their application forms are properly completed and are submitted with the necessary supporting documents. A fee of HK$570 is collected for each application and the fee should be submitted together with the application form. An acknowledgement receipt for properly completed applications will be issued to the applicants. The Department will make every effort to process such applications as quickly as possible. However, it may take longer time to process the applications if additional information or clarifications are required. Applicants will be notified in writing and as soon as possible on whether their applications are successful. The permit would be valid until the end of the year (i.e. 31 December of the year) in which the permit is granted. Before expiry, the Department will send a letter to remind permit holders and invite them to apply for renewal as appropriate. | ||||
